In Feast and Famine

Its not easy to examine ourselves and ask the hard question, "would I serve God if I lost everything?".  For me personally, I have often imagined what i would do if  I lost my voice permanently.  What would I say to God?  Would I love Him with my life still?  When things get hard, it is our natural human reaction to shut our hearts up and stop dead in our tracks. We lose sight of the big picture and it can dominate our thoughts.

On the opposite side of the spectrum is praising God in the middle of nothingness.   In words of Job, "Will I accept good from the Lord and Not evil?".  He is the Lord of both the feast and the famine.  Our relationship with God should not be solely based on His benefits (Psalm 103). We are Christians not because God can make us rich,  give us a happy life, or so that we can always have peace; but because we are in total and utter dependance of Him.  Outside of Him there is no life at all.

I have some good friend that just lost his job yesterday. Wow. How hard that must be in this time.  But God is in control.  I know that he will provide, but they have to walk out process right now... Its real life stuff.  Its a great example of an opportunity to praise in famine.  In conclusion, I will quote the words of King David, "Never once have I seen the righteous forsaken!".

First Blog Entry Ever!

Well, I thought that it would be really great to finally be able to start a blog... So here it is...  I am in Greensboro NC with one of my best friends Kyle... He got radically saved in high-school and works as a Campus Outreach director at UNCG.  Greensboro is one of the smallest-biggest town that I have ever seen.  Its much smaller than Knoxville, but seems to have just as many restaurants and churches... Anyways... We have had a great time and fortunately there is still tomorrow to experience just a little more.

God has really been changing my life around recently... I have no idea what's around the next corner, but i am hopeful and blessed... Some scripture that I just haven't been able to escape for the last week is Matthew Chapter 5:1-11... Its some good stuff... If you get a chance, take a look and let me know what you think...

Till Next Time...
